Questions we are frequently asked

  • Holistic dentistry promotes a more mindful approach to health, rather than just focusing on the treatment of disease.

It's a holistic way that we embrace as general dental professionals with particular interest in looking beyond your mouth — which means everything from mental wellness to all of your mind, body and spirit will be treated in synergy by us.

At our clinic, we offer general dental services that are mindful of the treatments and materials used in order to work with your whole body.

We also collaborate on a daily basis not only with other practitioners such as integrative doctors or naturopaths but even acupuncturists if need be.

  • Instead of just giving you a set price for treatment, we work out an individualized plan with all your needs in mind.

We take photographs and x-rays during our consultations so that our team can tailor your treatments through our holistic framework — ensuring that you are taken care of completely.

  • We all know the feeling of dread when our dentist tells us to come back in six months. But at Anokhi Dental, we believe that seeing your Dentist on a regular basis is vital for maintaining optimal teeth and overall good health!

While there's no hard rule about how often you should see us, however, most people tend to visit their dental professional every three to six months.

  • No. We're not aligned with any one health insurance fund, but we do have a HICAP's facility so you can claim your money directly from them on the spot!

  • At Anokhi Dental, we know that there are concerns around x-ray exposure and use a reduced radiation digital system to provide you with more information about your teeth.

Our team will always be mindful when recommending them so they can offer some important insights into the health of both yours as well as other areas such as jaw or facial bone structure (especially if it's an issue).

  • We do not offer fluoride treatment at Anokhi Dental. We also use fluoride-free composite resins and polishing pastes.

To date, we have been reviewing the scientific data around fluoride and are not yet convinced of its therapeutic benefits and safety levels.

Tooth decay is not caused by fluoride deficiency. There are so many factors involved in the reasons for dental decay such as genetics, diet, stress, specific oral bacteria to name a few.

  • Root canal treatment is a procedure carried out to retain a dead or dying tooth. A tooth can die for various reasons including dental decay, trauma, cracks and gum disease.

The procedure involves cleaning out the nerve chamber when a tooth is dead or dying. In this way, the dead tooth may be kept in the mouth and can function as it did before.

The procedure involves several visits to clean the main canals of the chamber and place antiseptic pastes. Once this has been done, the canals are sealed up with a flexible filling material and the tooth is restored with a crown.

  • We know that dental work is important to your health and safety, which is why at Anokhi Dental we protect you and ourselves from harmful effects of mercury by implementing up-to-date protocols.

We follow specific protocols laid out by the International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology (IAOMT).

Please see amalgam removal for more information on our procedures!

  • So, you're wondering if there is a way to heal your teeth without any dental work?

The answer starts with understanding what makes up the bulk of each tooth - dentine and enamel. Dentinal structures are more fragile than their hard outer layer which can be found on top (enamel).

It's important for us not only to know how these different minerals function within our oral health but also where cavities start from.

Please note: Some people believe that they can heal their teeth naturally and without professional help, but one should always seek an expert opinion if in doubt.
